Two Greenovation members were awarded with Best Papers Presentation by Secretariat of International Congress Asian Planning Schools Association

Two Greenovation members, Sara Izrar Aziz and Teoh Mei Yee, were awarded with Best Papers Presentation by Secretariat of International Congress Asian Planning Schools Association on 23 August 2019. The conference was held at Seoul National University. Sara presented on Origin and Evolution of a Public Park: A Historical Analysis of Titiwangsa Lake Garden 1800-2000 and Mei Yee on The Influence of Urban Design on Microclimate in Tropical Historic Urban Canyon: Case Study at Ipoh Old Quarter, Malaysia. Currently, Sara is reading her PhD at Seoul National University whilst Mei Yee is studying her PhD at Shibaura Institute of Technology (SIT) in Tokyo. Sara did her Master of Architecture at UTM and supervised by Dr Hisyam Rasidi. Mei Yee started her PhD at UTM under the supervision of Prof Ismail Said, and later continued to SIT sponsored by Hybrid Program UTM-SIT. Both graduated Bachelor of Landscape Architecture at UTM. PhD Candidates of Greenovation Research Group Participated in the Postgraduate Study Colloquium Hosted by ATMA of Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia

On 25th July 2019, 13 PhD candidates of Greenovation Research Group participated in the postgraduate study colloquium hosted by ATMA of UKM. A total of 46 postgraduate candidates from IIUM, UKM, UPM, USIM, UM and UTM presented their research materials. As chairman of the event, Associate Professor Dr Nor Zalina Harun was much delighted with the outcome of the colloquium which was initiated by Greenovation Research Group and was jointly organized with ATMA in a short period, three weeks. The upcoming colloquium will be hosted by UPM.

PhD Student Engagement in a Conference at Aalto University in Finland

Three PhD candidates from Greenovation Research Group, Faculty of Built Environment and Surveying, presented their research works at Second International Society of Participatory Mapping (ISPM): Let the people map conference hosted by Aalto University, Espoo, Finland on 17-19 June 2019. The conference provides a platform for presenting recent advances within the field of participatory mapping and initiating discussion on the current state and future directions of the research. The candidates are Sarah Alia Norazlan, Janatun Yusof and Daodu Tosin whom are supervised by Ismail Said, a professor of landscape architecture at the faculty. At the conference, they presented their research to more than 45 participants coming from 26 countries throughout the world. And, they had a long discussion with the chairman of the conference, Professor Marketta Kytta, on their ongoing research of children’s environment. Inasmuch, Sarah Alia Norazlan, received an award of US$700 and registration fee from the conference secretariat.

Mesyuarat Penyelarasan bagi Majlis Pendaftaran Khas Ijazah Doktor Falsafah bagi Pegawai Tadbir Negeri Johor yang bakal berlangsung pada 29 Ogos 2019 telah berlangsung di Bilik Mesyuarat 1, B12 dan disusuli dengan lawatan ke ruang-ruang yang akan terlibat disepanjang majlis itu nanti. Mesyuarat ini telah dihadiri oleh YB Dato’ Dr. Badrul Hisham bin Kassim dan pegawai-pegawai dari Pejabat Setiausaha Kerajaan Negeri Johor serta PTJ UTM seperti Fakulti Alam Bina dan Ukur (FABU), Pejabat naib Canselor, Pejabat Hal Ehwal Korporat (HEK), Bahagian Kemasukan dan Rekod (SRAD), dan Sekolah Pengajian Siswazah (SPS).

ubicost (Glodon) Basic Training TAS C & TRB C from 5 to 7th August 2019 located at Makmal Komputer Ukur Bahan, Block B11 FABU. This 3 days training is designed to provide a basic knowledge of software operations and modelling techniques of new Cubicost. This course offers hands-on training representing the real practice scenarios that covers architecture and structural take off.

Seramai 30 orang pelajar dari Shenzhen Polytechnic dan UTeM telah datang melawat ke FABU pada 7 Ogos 2019 yang lepas. Tempat lawatan pertama adalah di Galeri FABU, B02. Dekan FABU, Prof. Dr. Mohd Hamdan bin Ahmad telah mengalu-alukan kedatangan pelajar-pelajar tersebut dan Penolong Dekan (Hubungan Luar & Global), Sr Dr. Zuhaili Mohamad Ramly telah memberi penerangan dan sedikit latar belakang tentang FABU serta membawa pelajar-pelajar tersebut membuat lawatan di sekitar fakulti seperti di Galeri FABU, Student’s Lounge dan KALAM.
