Leading Globally, Leading Nationally: We are proud to announce that Universiti Teknologi Malaysia’s Faculty of Built Environment and Surveying has achieved outstanding recognition both internationally and nationally. According to the prestigious QS World University Ranking 2022, we have been ranked as the number one institution in Malaysia for subject Architecture/Built Environment. Additionally, our faculty has secured a position within the top 50-100 globally for architecture and built environment, reaffirming our commitment to academic excellence, research, and innovation on a global scale.

Cutting-edge Research and Recognized Expertise: Our faculty members are not only actively engaged in groundbreaking research that addresses the most pressing challenges facing the built environment and surveying industries today, but their expertise is also globally recognized. Several of our esteemed faculty members have been listed as top 2% scientists in Geological and Geomatics Engineering by Stanford University. Additionally, our faculty members have received prestigious accolades such as Top Research Scientist Malaysia, Anugerah Akademik Negara ke-15 (Anugerah Pengajaran), and have been honored as Fulbright Malaysian Scholars to the United States. Moreover, our Faculty is home to 4 Centers of Excellence and encompasses 20 Research Groups. From pioneering sustainable urban planning strategies to advancing surveying techniques, our faculty’s research initiatives are not only shaping the future of our disciplines but also contributing to the global body of knowledge in significant ways.

Industry Partnerships: At UTM, we understand the importance of collaboration between academia and industry. That’s why we foster strong partnerships with leading companies and organizations in the built environment and surveying sectors through various Memoranda of Understanding (MOUs), Memoranda of Agreement (MOAs), and Letters of Collaboration (LOCs). Our Faculty boasts an impressive track record with 22 active MOUs, 9 MOAs, and 4 LOCs, as well as other collaborative initiatives involving 11 countries. These partnerships provide our students with valuable opportunities for real-world experience and help ensure that our research remains relevant and impactful. By working closely with industry partners, we can bridge the gap between theory and practice, allowing our students to gain practical insights and skills that are highly sought after in the professional world.

Our programs are meticulously designed and accredited by esteemed professional bodies including Lembaga Perancang Bandar Malaysia (LPBM), Lembaga Jurukur Bahan Malaysia (LJBM), Lembaga Arkitek Malaysia (LAM), Lembaga Penilai, Pentaksir, dan Ejen Hartanah Malaysia (LPPEH), Lembaga Jurukur Tanah Malaysia (LJT), Institute of Landscape Architects Malaysia (ILAM), and MBOT (Malaysian Board of Technologists). These accreditations ensure that our programs meet rigorous standards of quality and relevance, equipping students with the knowledge, skills, and experience they need to thrive in today’s dynamic and ever-evolving industries.
