Pada 17 Mei 2013, majlis Penyampaian Sijil Akreditasi Program Perancang Bandar dan Wilayah dengan Kepujian (2013-2017) telah dijalankan di Fakulti Alam Bina, UTM Johor Bahru, Johor. Ia telah disampaikan oleh Yang Bhg. Dr. Dahlia Bte Rosly, Pendaftar, Lembaga Perancang Bandar Malaysia (LPBM) merangkap Timbalan Ketua Pengarah Jabatan Perancang Bandar dan Desa Semenanjung Malaysia.
Majlis turut dihadiri oleh Dekan Fakulti Alam Bina, Prof. Madya Dr. Roslan Bin Amirudin, Pengarah Kualiti UTM, Prof. Dr. Abdul Samad Bin Haji Ismail serta staf Jabatan Perancangan Bandar dan Wilayah.

A colloquium was held at Urban Greening Institute, Department of Landscape Architecture, College of Agriculture and Life Sciences, Seoul National University, Korea on 7th May 2013. The purpose of the colloquium is to present, discuss and share research findings among the members of Urban Greening Institute (SNU, Korea) and Greenovation Research Group (UTM, Malaysia), and simultaneously to develop a collaboration and establish networking. Three (3) members from Urban Greening Institute and five (5) members from Greenovation Research Group have presented their research during colloquium. The presenters and their presentation titles were:
- Cho Yong-il (SNU) – The Introduction of GBCC (Green Building Certification Criteria).
- Chun Hyun-Jin (SNU) – Interpretation of Cultural Landscape at Chinatown Commercial Street in Korea.
- Teoh Mei Yee (SNU) – Interpretation of Cultural Landscape in Traditional Malay Village: Case Study of Padang Changkat Village in Malaysia.
- Khazainun Zaini (UTM) – Effectiveness of Gated Community in Providing Safe Outdoor Spaces for the Residents: A Theoretical Framework.
- Hesham Omran Elfartas (UTM) – Residents’ Perception on Contribution of Urban Square to Social Interaction among Malaysian Ethnic Groups in Small Town.
- Nor Fadzila Aziz (UTM) – Developing Maps of Affordances for Children’s Environmental Learning at Primary Schools in Malaysia.
- Hazlinda Abd Aziz (UTM) – Green Corridors: Linear Conservation Areas for Urban Wildlife.
- Wan Saiful Nizam Wan Mohamed (UTM) – modeling of Street Network Connectivity to Evaluate a Good Pedestrian Wayfinding of Small Town in Malaysia.

SUSTEP Short-Term Program at a glance:
- One semester program at SUSTEP graduate program (Autumn semester, October 2013-March 2014)
- Classes and supervision in English
- Diverse topics related to environmental sciences and policy: water quality, water treatment, water resource management, disaster management, forest and agricultural management, waste management, environmental economics, environmental policy, landscape planning, urban and regional planning, remote sensing, public health, etc..
- Tuition fee exempted.
- Scholarship JPY80,000 per month for seven months, funded by the Japan Student Support Organization, JASSO (Note that travel expenses not covered)
- Student accommodation provided.
- Participants are requested to arrive at Narita either on September 24 or 25.
- Important eligibilities:
- Degree-seeking graduate student at UTM
- Good academic performance
- Fluent in English
- Research topic related to SUSTEP academic staff
