Universiti Teknologi Malaysia (UTM) successfully hosted the 3rd International Urban Planning Conference (iNUPC) 2026, bringing together urban planning professionals, academics, government agencies, industry representatives and students to discuss strategies for building sustainable and resilient cities across Southeast Asia.The conference was organised by students enrolled in the SBEW4293 Conference Planning course under the Department of Urban and Regional Planning, Faculty of Built Environment and Surveying (FABU), UTM. Head of Smart Infrastructure Department at Gamuda Smart City & Infrastructure Planning, TPr Ts. Md Farabi Yussoff Md Yussoff shared insights on smart infrastructure and integrated urban systems in shaping sustainable and future-ready cities
Adjunct Lecturer at the National University of Singapore (NUS) and Director of DP Urban, Djoko Prihanto, shared regional perspectives on urban development and planning practice towards more adaptive and resilient cities
The conference was officially officiated by the Chairman of the Johor Sustainability Centre (JSC), Datuk Seri Utama Ir. Hasni Mohammad. The keynote session was delivered by Director General of the Federal Department of Town and Country Planning (PLANMalaysia), and Adjunct Professor of UTM, Datuk TPr Dr. Alias Rameli.
