UTM-TkU-UoRM First Collaborative Webinar Series on Delay & Disruption Protocol in Building Industry

The first collaborative webinar series by three collaboration universities namely Universiti Teknologi Malaysia (UTM), Tamkang University (TkU), and University of Reading Malaysia (UoRM), was successfully held on 9 March 2021. The collaborative webinar series is rotated among the universities, whereby the first series was initiated by TkU, followed by UoRM and ended by UTM from early of March until end of April 2021.

The collaborative webinar series has been established to promote the knowledge exchange and transfer between the universities to staff and students, enhance the interactions between collaborated parties, as well as to ensure the collaborations of the research projects will be delivered in the best possible ways to achieve the optimized success, benefit and value.

The involved team from UTM is lead by Prof. Ts. Dr. Mohd Hamdan Ahmad (Deputy Vice-Chancellor of Development UTM) and the members of the team consist of Dr. Leng Pau Chung, Dr. Gabriel Ling Hoh Teck (Faculty of Built Environment and Surveying), Dr. Eeydzah Aminudin (School of Civil Engineering), and Dr. Chan Weng Howe (School of Computing).

In the other hand, the team from UoRM is lead by Dr. Bruno Lot Tanko, MRICS (Head of Built Environment) and Dr. Celine Lee Cen Ying (Henley Business School) while the team from TkU is lead by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Fan-Su Ling. The collaboration program was initiated from the mid of year 2020 to work hand-in-hand among the three universities in international collaboration fund research project.

The first collaborative webinar was run concurrently with the Construction Management Lecture managed by Prof. Fan- Su Ling from TkU, Taiwan with Dr. Leng Pau Chung, UTM senior lecturer as the session moderator. Prof. Fan-Su Ling is Assoc. Prof. from Department of Civil Engineering, the Director of Taiwan-Malaysia Digital Technology International Center (DiCTIC), the Director of Research Development Center of Construction Law (CLC), TkU as well as International Advisory board, Journal of Surveying, Contraction and Property (JSCP).

The shared topic which titled “Delay and Disruption Protocol” was mainly about the impact of the project delay as well as the selected case studies happened in Taiwan building industry. Through the webinar, the participants from Malaysia had the opportunity to understand the scenario in construction flow and solutions applied in Taiwan building industry. The webinar had wrapped up with the Q&A session followed by the speaker’s conclusion.

Bengkel Strategi anjuran Research Group of Urban Design and Environmental (UDE)

Kumpulan penyelidikan (RG) baharu Fakulti Alam Bina dan Ukur (FABU), Research Group of Urban Design and Environmental (UDE) telah berjaya menganjurkan sebuah bengkel strategi di Imperial Heritage Hotel, Bandaraya Melaka pada 24 hingga 26 September 2020 lalu. Tujuan utama penganjuran bengkel tersebut adalah untuk merangka hala tuju dan menyediakan pelan strategi pelaksanaan perancangan RG UDE bagi tempoh lima (5) tahun, 2020-2025. Bengkel Strategi Research Group of Urban Design and Environmental (UDE) 2020-2025 melibatkan penyertaan 20 orang peserta. Seramai lima (5) orang penceramah jemputan terdiri daripada rakan-rakan strategik telah dijemput untuk berkongsi pengalaman dan panduan kepada ahli-ahli RG. Penceramah dibarisi wakil pihak berkuasa tempatan (PBT), syarikat swasta, Centre of Excellence (CoE) dan RG lain.
Rakan-rakan strategik tersebut diwakili oleh En. Safwan Shaari, Pegawai Perancang Bandar, Jabatan Perancangan Pembangunan, Majlis Bandaraya Iskandar Puteri (MBIP) yang berkongsikan pengalaman PBT melaksanakan pelbagai projek pembaharuan bandar dan penyediaan Rancangan Kawasan Khas (RKK) Sg. Skudai di peringkat kerajaan tempatan. Penglibatan komuniti dalam projek reka bentuk dan pemuliharaan telah disampaikan oleh wakil Think City Sdn. Bhd. (Johor Bahru) iaitu En. Gan Yi Reng. Manakala pengalaman penerbitan buku telah disampaikan oleh penerima Anugerah Buku Karya Asli Sains Sosial, Citra Karisma 2019, saudara Mohd. Zaki Bahrudin dari Pusat Pengajian Diploma SPACE. Pengalaman perundingan pula disampaikan oleh Ar. Noraslinda Abd. Rahman, Pengarah KALAM UTM dan tip permohonan geran dikongsikan oleh Dr. Khairul Hisyam Kamarudin, RG Royal Belum UTM KL.
Hasil pemukiman para peserta bengkel tersebut, 2 dokumen telah dimurnikan iaitu pertama prospektus RG yang mengandungi profil serta latar belakang pengalaman ahli tetap dan bersekutu UDE. Kedua, sebuah pelan strategik yang dikenali sebagai UDE Blueprint 2020-2025 telah selesai dirangka dan direncana sepanjang bengkel. Draf akhir blueprint tersebut mengandungi tahun perancangan pelaksanaan setiap komponen RG. Beberapa cadangan aktiviti, program dan kerjasama strategik berkaitan penyelidikan dan perundingan dengan rakan strategik lain termasuk agensi kerajaan, industri, NGO dan Pihak Berkuasa Tempatan dijangka akan mula dilaksanakan. Pelaksanaan pelan strategi tersebut dibahagikan kepada dua tahap iaitu cadangan 1-2 tahun, untuk fasa jangka pendek (quick win) dan tahun 3-5 untuk jangka panjang. RG baharu fakulti yang dirasmikan oleh Prof. Sr. Dr. Hishamuddin Bin Mohd. Ali, Dekan FABU pada 21 September lalu diketuai oleh Dr. Noor Aimran Samsudin dan disertai barisan pensyarah muda fakulti iaitu Dr. Lee Yoke Lai, LAr. Dr. Siti Rahmah Omar, Dr. Muhamad Solehin Fitry Rosley dan Dr. Mohamad Fadhli Rashid.

Bengkel Penggalak Inovasi Staf Sokongan FABU telah diadakan selama 2 hari pada 7 hingga 8 September 2020 yang lepas bertempat di Dewan Konvesyen FABU. Puan Hanifah binti Ahmad (Timbalan Pendaftar, Pejabat TNCAA) dan Prof. Madya Dr. Abdul Rashid bin Husain (Pengarah UTM XCITE) telah dijemput sebagai penceramah untuk berkongsi ilmu tentang inovasi perkhidmatan dalam organisasi kepada semua staf yang terlibat. Bengkel ini bertujuan untuk memupuk dan menyemarakkan budaya kreatif dan inovatif dalam cara bekerja yang diamalkan dalam kalangan staf Fakulti Alam Bina dan Ukur.

Kumpulan Penyelidikan Geospatial Imaging dan Information, TropicalMap dan Makmal Penyelidikan 3D GIS FABU UTM dengan kerjasama Photo Laser Grammetry Sdn Bhd telah menganjurkan Bengkel Mobile Asset Mapping For Tenaga Nasional Berhad (TNB) pada 10 hingga 13 Ogos 2020 yang lepas bertempat di Makmal GIS & Kartografi 2, FABU. Bengkel ini juga telah dihadiri oleh Prof. Madya Dr. Zulkepli bin Majid, Timbalan Dekan (Penyelidikan, Inovasi, Pembangunan dan Alumni) dan Prof. Madya Dr. Zulkarnaini bin Mat Amin, Pengarah Geoinformasi.
