Congratulations to students from Geoinformation, FABU because has won 1st place at Kenyalang Mapping Technologies 2019, organized by Politeknik Kuching. Students involved are Tang Siew Khing and Phan Hock Lai, supervised by Sr Dr. Muhamad Uznir Ujang. The award were given on 19 October 2019 at Imperial Hotel, Kuching. The team developed a mobile app for Search and Rescue operation (GIS) for Sarawak Fire and Rescue Department.

Universiti Teknologi Malaysia (UTM) team from Landscape Architecture, Faculty of Built Environment and Surveying was announced as the recipient of the Silver Award for Vertical Wall Competition for the university garden category at the Royal Floria Putrajaya 2019. The competition took place at Taman Botani, Putrajaya. The vertical wall garden also known as the green wall or living wall is a method of covering the wall structure with plants to create a vertical garden.
The main theme of Royal Floria Putrajaya 2019 is ‘orchids and bonsai’, and for the vertical garden competition, the theme of Malaysia National Day expressed in the form of mural art has to be incorporated. `The Magnificent of Victory´ is the concept for UTM team which highlights the chronology of Malaysia’s independence and the success story of the country’s achievements. The vertical wall integrated innovation through the sustainable rainwater harvesting system which functions to irrigate the plants and also as a shading element. There were five universities including UTM who participated in the competition namely Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM), International Islamic University Malaysia (UIA), Universiti Teknologi Mara (UITM) and University College of Agroscience Malaysia (UCAM).
The UTM team consisted of five fourth-year students of landscape architecture; Muhammad Afiq Harith Bin Zulkhairi, Mohamad Sabar Bin Mustafa, Intan Zulaikha Nazirah Binti Ishak, Rabiatul Hidayah Binti Abdul Rahman and Oscar Chong Yi Bin. The team was led by LAr. Dr Zanariah binti Jasmani, with the assistance from Mr. Mohd Azhari Bin Mohd Amin (technical support).
Royal Floria Putrajaya is open to the public from 31st August until 8th September 2019 from 10 am to 10 pm.

Two Greenovation members, Sara Izrar Aziz and Teoh Mei Yee, were awarded with Best Papers Presentation by Secretariat of International Congress Asian Planning Schools Association on 23 August 2019. The conference was held at Seoul National University. Sara presented on Origin and Evolution of a Public Park: A Historical Analysis of Titiwangsa Lake Garden 1800-2000 and Mei Yee on The Influence of Urban Design on Microclimate in Tropical Historic Urban Canyon: Case Study at Ipoh Old Quarter, Malaysia. Currently, Sara is reading her PhD at Seoul National University whilst Mei Yee is studying her PhD at Shibaura Institute of Technology (SIT) in Tokyo. Sara did her Master of Architecture at UTM and supervised by Dr Hisyam Rasidi. Mei Yee started her PhD at UTM under the supervision of Prof Ismail Said, and later continued to SIT sponsored by Hybrid Program UTM-SIT. Both graduated Bachelor of Landscape Architecture at UTM. Congratulations to our alumni!

Tahniah diucapkan kepada Pelajar Senibina Landskap, Fakulti Alam Bina dan Ukur atas kejayaan cemerlang di Assembly of Landscape Architecture Students Malaysia (ALAM) ke 10 yang bertempat di Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM) pada 26 hingga 30 Julai 2019 yang lepas dengan bertemakan SedekArt Alam. 10 orang pelajar dibawah seliaan Dr Norliza Mohd Isa dan staf En Azhari telah berjaya mendapat tempat pertama bagi Pertandingan Rekaan Fesyen kategori wanita dan tempat kedua bagi Pertandingan Video.
Senarai pelajar yang telah mewakili universiti adalah Ahmad Faris bin Azli, Amirul Naim bin Mohd Sani, Fareez Redza bin Abdul Adi, Hakimi bin A. Ruji, Muhammad Khaidir bin Hamid, Nursyahilla bt Zainuddin, Nurul Auni bt Mohammad Yusuf, Siti Hawa bt Ismail dan Zaza Ainaz bt Mohamed Aznam.

Universiti Teknologi Malaysia (UTM) architecture students from the Faculty of Built Environment and Surveying continue to garner the top awards for students of Architecture in Malaysia 2019. The latest of such award ceremonies was held on Saturday 6th July 2019 at the Plenary Theatre, Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre (KLCC). During the ArchiTalent 2019 Student Finalist Presentation, Rashidah binti Jimi Sham, a UTM Master of Architecture student was crowned as Champion for her design works and presentation entitled L’ECO : Low Energy Courtyard Training Centre’. She won the top prize of RM3000.00 and a trophy. On top of the honour received, she was also selected as the best presenter during the presentation that was held on the same morning. Her supervisor for the design work was Associate Prof. Dr Mohd Zin bin Kandar from the Faculty of Built Environment and Surveying. Two other architecture students from the Faculty of Built Environment and Surveying, UTM, Wilson Tan Xern Ee, an Master Architecture student supervised by Associate Prof. Dr Khairul Anwar bin Mohd Khaidzir, and Aw Khai Hoong, a 3rd Year Bachelor of Science in Architecture student supervised by Ar. Noraslinda bt. Abdul Rahman, were also among the 15 finalists for the ArchiTalent 2019.

Seramai 15 graduan dari FABU telah dianugerahkan Anugerah Kecemerlangan Akademik di Majlis Anugerah Kecemerlangan Akademik FABU bersempena dengan Konvokesyen UTM yang ke-62. Majlis ini telah diadakan pada 29 April 2019 (Isnin) bertempat di Dewan Konvensyen, B12, FABU. FABU mengucapkan setinggi-tinggi tahniah kepada semua graduan FABU. Semoga menjadi lebih cemerlang pada masa akan datang.
