Johor Bahru as a Point of Convergence

Johor Bahru City Centre is the focal point in Johor Bahru looking to the masses of tourists and locals approaching the city day by day. This is due to the image of Johor Bahru as the capital city of Johor which eventually attracts outsiders and insiders to come once in a time. It is a city that is fully compact with heritage assets and cultural virtue despite its idea of developing towards future Smart City that comprehend the concept of futuristics.

Its wholesome idea of maintaining the tangible heritage assets is what has led the city center to become a place full with mixed developments with clear identity of the buildings. In order to keep utilizing the area, a sense of culture is built whereas the area is lit up during the night with the presence of Bazar Karat despite being normal passageway during the day.

Some area in the City Centre have been dedicated for certain events and heritage purposes which eventually led to the enrichment of heritage property. Those areas has become the intersection point between the locals and tourists allowing a proper connection between each other whether its the staff and the customer or a visitor and a visitor. Since the area consist of less residential area, some locals tend to come from different area occasionally, just like how tourists are.

The City Centre also lean towards converging different ethnics in one area allowing a connecting point between each other especially during festivals. This can be brightly seen how the area is lit up during those events making it one of the focal social point despite having some area that is dim and gloomy due to none of any other attractions in the surrounding area.

Johor Bahru City Centre is about to lean towards the future while holding onto the value of the past. Some of the people are afraid for a drastic change of the area, some demand for a better City Centre hoping it fulfill the vision of development. But for sure it needs to remain and preserve the value of the culture. After all, its the richness of culture that lit up the area the most.
