Manifesto

Manifesto is a written statement, collage of picture or sketches that describes the policies, goals, opinions of a person, group or an organization. In architecture, its usually had been use to show the intention or ideas of an architect or designer to tell about his or her design or even ideology to the public. In the Manifesto, my design intent was to show the culture and tradition that happened or occurs around Kota Tinggi and my consideration toward the future development of Kota Tinggi and the site itself.

Kota Tinggi was an old town which contains a lots of historical building and structure that was standstill until nowadays. The existence of Kota Tinggi had lots of relationship with the growth of Johor Bahru since its was the oldest town that had been found in Johor Bahru. Sadly, due to the flood that happened in Kota Tinggi once in a year, its make the development of Kota Tinggi become slow through out the years. Many strategies and plans for development of Kota Tinggi had been done by the authorities of Kota Tinggi but the town was still deserted.

In my Manifesto, I wanted to provide a learning hub which giving opportunity for people or tourist that come to the learning hub to learn more about the Kota Tinggi. Since Kota Tinggi was a historical town that standout until nowadays, I wanted to provide the knowledge about it inside the learning hub such as history of Kota Tinggi and Flood Preparation Strategies. Besides providing the learning hub as a learning space area, a comfortable area which suitable for all ages of people to enjoy their leisure time by talking, eating or chatting with each other. A more playful design will be propose for the design of the learning hub since all the building around Kota Tinggi was built around few centuries ago. By making the learning hub in a more playful ways, its could make the learning hub more eyes-catching since people couldn’t see there were no other building being built in such a way. My hope for the learning hub was to make it become an iconic building for Kota Tinggi and attract more people to come to our learning hub. By introduce it toward the younger generation, its would bring more opportunities to the development of Kota Tinggi.
