Food. A word that unites all of us around the world. That’s exactly what I manifest in our 2A project.
Learning about Kota Tinggi, having intentions in designing and knowing about the culture of one site are one of the reasons why I came up with the ideation of this manifesto. As the picture shown above, the map is specifically focused on our site and its surrounding. The map portrays the target users. People that live nearby the site and also the potential target user in the future, the whole community of Kota Tinggi.
The picture scattered around are the nodes existing around the site. We have different types of typologies shown such as commercial (Pasar Awam Kota Tinggi), tourism (Makam Sultan Mahmud Mangkat Dijulang and Menara Jam Kota Tinggi), goverment (Pejabat Pos Kota Tinggi), transportation (Bas Terminal Kota Tinggi) and educational (Kolej Komuniti Kota Tinggi). This is one of the approach that I would like to wish for this project to become one of the possible nodes where people actually spend their time at in the near future.
Other than that, the food around the map shows how the variety of food has become one of the main attraction for local people and outside to come to Johor or Kota Tinggi specifically to try these delicious dishes.
At the end of the journey (dotted blue line), there are a few activities that the locals can do alongside with the type of programs that I would emphasize in my building. For example, families start to spend their time together wandering around Bandar Kota Tinggi with their kids, youth starts to live their lives in a healthier way, cycling and walking, and most importantly, they get to seek knowledge on how to survive in this modern world, economically by joining and enjoying the activities held inside the building.
For the color chosen, I purposely made the manifesto a bit cold by using black and white as the background and the colors are only seen from the food. The colorful food palette symbolizes connection, interaction and happiness within the local, as well as it involves every range of age group and genders. It clearly shows that food is the reason on why people get to spend their time together and why does it connects one another.
I hope this manifesto and it’s idea gets a spot in your heart as it did to mine.
