Possible Future Studio

Future Workshop Review

Futures Wheel: A tool to help in figuring out future possibilities no matter it is good or bad.

Since I started studying architecture, idea and concept pitching are always prominent to produce a great design. However, idea and concept pitching could be a nightmare for me sometimes, as I don’t really have a proper way on how to figure it out, and I frequently felt lost. Therefore, that is why I pick this studio as my first choice, as I am eager to explore on the ways to generate idea and concept

For the past studio, it was my first exposure to this future workshop, and I feel it is kind of an interesting activity that helps in idea thinking and concept generating although this activity consume a lots of brain cells. I would say future workshop has a well organized structure to help in idea thinking, where it first triggers ones to think about the current issues, as well as possible issues in the futures. Afterward, by referring to the issues, next step will be to come out with an idea or solution to cope with it, together with an imagination on how to world gonna be by using the solution thought.

In this activity, what I love the most is the futures wheel, where it enable me to think about both the positive and negative sides of an idea or even issues, not only in the first layer (the current), but a lot more layers behind (the futures). It is always happens that one will be biased when they are looking at a certain issues, thinking and to give their point of view, which normally will be affected by their interest, emotion and so on. Even in this activity, we are always reminded by our studio master, Dr Aiman, as to always think about both positive and negative sides of an issues. even for the bad one, there might be an advantage as well when we looking over it again and again. That is what I enough thought of to think about. Benefits a lot by joining this future workshop, and looking forward that it could help me in my idea thinking, as well as design later.
