Possible Future Studio

2nd Year Journey (:

1. MY PROJECT

For this semester, we were giving a task to design an environmental responsive institutional building in Puteri Harbour. The site visit and research has led me to bring an issue of the importance of marine widlife in Johor waters. By taking into consideration of our studio agenda, about what could possibly happen in the future, I decided to create awareness to the public about the possiblities that can happen to this tiny creatures if we didn’t put any action to protect them.

Do we realise that due of development, there are sea creatures that we have put in danger? Are lofty condominiums, luxury shopping malls, and skyscrapers really that necessary and worthwhile if we losing the splendor of marine life forever? All of those question should be in everyone mind and the time has come for us to focus on things other than ourselves. By referring to the short comics, I’m not only focusing on the animals itself but also the habitat that they live. The thing that worries me the most is that, in the worst-case scenario, some of us could not even be aware that this particular species is on the verge of extinction. Therefore, my target is to protect, provide, educate and enrich the public about how important marine life in this world.

A brief description about this project, Funtasea Marine Education Centre is an institutional that brings users closer to hands-on experiences with sea life and environmental sustainability. The goal was to improve the state of Johor’s water by raising citizen awareness, understanding, and responsibility about the organisms and habitats that are on the verge of extinction.

Since workbase 1 is focusing on environmental design strategies, there are some of measures that I’ve been implemented into my design.

2. WHAT I’VE LEARN?

Sadly, we’re already reach at the end of our semester. How come the time flies so fast?? Honestly, its worth it I guess to be a part of workbase 1 in this semester. If we count the days, 15 weeks could seem like a long time, but in reality, they’re only a short time period. However I would like express my gratitude and appreciation to all my colleagues, “YOU GUYS ARE THE BEST”. I appreciate the friendliness and please continued sharing of design, expertise, and other knowledge because the right way to learn is to learn from each other. For Dr. Izura, thank you for non stop of giving support, motivation and ideas. You always inspired us in many ways and your advice might be one of the things I’ll be missed the most.

It would take a full page for me to discuss all I’ve learned this semester but for sure, I’m gonna apply every of it in the next semester because its valuable and knowledge without practice will be worthless.

Things end but memories last forever“.

Thank you!
