Possible Future Studio

To Travel is to Live

We members of the Strinex Studio deciding on our first overseas trip to our adjacent country, Singapore. Have you ever pondered those feelings of excitement from having a big group of friends that you are familiar with, and by big, I mean almost 100 people, travelling together to an unfamiliar place, even just for a mere entire day. We filled the day packly with multiple places to exploit. As an architecture student, or specifically as a designer student, instead of looking for a new hipster shop or a new mall to shop, we learned to look for the building design, circulation, and more, and, to sum up, we were impressed. Their design is like how we imagine our impossible building would be ~ a dream of an architect but a nightmare of an engineer, on the cure, the structure; a curse but somehow they make it happen. Our Alice in Wonderland in the real world. There are a lot of places that we want to go, but time will surely be jealous of us; one day is never enough guys!

By walking with friends, you will learn more; you can ask about topics that both of you favor. Walking into Singapore, as said by the presenter, Singapore is everything; she is a country, a state, and even a city. She is small and everywhere, mostly accessible by pedestrians. But what amazes us the most is how they were able to design such a small country into a good urban plan. Do you know that they even planned on maybe 50 years ahead for their urban planning? Maybe this is due to how small they are; they need to make sure every space in the country is used beautifully. Most of their design is connected to nature, and they always emphasise the importance of greenery in their place. We think they do take seriously what Frank Lloyd Wright did for his design philosophy: creating environments that were both functional and humane, focused not only on a building’s appearance but how it would connect with and enrich the lives of those inside it. Btw, do you want to know the secret of knowing which type of people you walking with? Haha, I once read that most designers will knock on any surface they meet; they kind of want to guess the materiality and never lie, they (my friends) also do this !! + we also made time to post a postcard (yeehaaa)

p.s: Big thanks to our lecturers and Mr. Kamaruzzaman (our tour guide) for guiding us; to ensure that we have grab the brightest perspective of lens for this country.
