Cages – Boundaries – Enclosure – Pagar – Isi Rumah
Bandar Sri Permaisuri is a beautiful residential area with towering buildings, beautiful landscapes, and luxurious amenities. However, as I walked through the area during my site visit, I couldn’t help but notice the cages. The cages that surrounded me were not made of steel bars or concrete walls, but they were created by the abundance of cars parked on the roads.
As I looked around, I noticed that the roads were congested with cars, leaving little to no space for pedestrians or cyclists to move around freely. This created an environment where people were trapped inside their vehicles, driving around in circles, unable to escape the confines of the cages created by the never-ending stream of cars.
The situation reminded me of the concept of a “cage”, where people are trapped and isolated from the outside world. This was not only a physical manifestation but also a mental one, as people were disconnected from their surroundings and from one another. The constant honking and traffic noises added to the feeling of being trapped, contributing to the sense of isolation.
Furthermore, the gated community design of Bandar Sri Permaisuri added to the sense of exclusivity and inequality. The buildings were gated, and each had its own entrance, making it feel as if the residents were disconnected from the outside world. This further contributed to the feeling of being trapped inside a cage.
