This semester, the studio resumes the theme of the future for students to explore.
The workbase calls for a design approach by exploring architectural ideas through imagination, stories, narratives or scenarios. Ideas and discussions will address global issues but are set in a local context of the site (Cheras) and its communities. Students will be asked to develop their manifestos through a series of manual production (ie. sketches, model making), progressive workshops, reflective writings and visual images (ie. collages) to speculate on what the site could be, inviting people around a possible future that we can work towards.
The studio will explore the idea of an alternative ways of making architecture by adopting the methods of Speculative Design and Futures Thinking.
The site for this semester will be in Bandar Sri Permaisuri, Cheras in Kuala Lumpur.
