[Reconnect]
What I’m trying to portray in this manifesto is the communal space for the people of Kluang. A landmark. In my opinion, I see Kluang as a toen with an unclear identity. Therefore, by creating this landmark to highlight the characters of Kluang, people will have this image in mind of what Kluang is even after exiting the town. In addition to that is to promote and educate the people of Kluang’s history. In my case, I’m using the Kluang Coffee to represent the image of Kluang and incorporating the street art as one of the characters of Kluang. Whereby, I will create something vibrant to emphasize more on the building characters and create this one lively space surrounded by living plants with the integration of biophilic design. Then we will have this one building that sticks out among the other concrete buildings around it.
We, as human, are responsible to care and protect the environment. In response to the 2030 Kluang District Local Plan : Sustainable Development Goals, having good health and well being as well as sustainable cities and communities, biophilic approach can aid to reconnect the people back with nature while also making people utilize their senses as it will also create an immersive experience through the plants. It is essentially how we use design to cultivate the love of living things. It is to highlight the beautiful aspects of nature that people can fall in love with. It is so people won’t be as detached from the nature while also creating an environment of wellness. Moreover, it increases our productivity and creativity as well as healing us naturally psychologically.
Educationally, it plays an important role as people are stimulated by the environment. Hence, by blurring the boundaries between indoors and outdoors, it creates a better living condition and experience for the community. Additionally, it provides a natural habitat not only for the people, but also for the wildlife. Through this approach, Kluang would be a lively sustainable city and community that will further benefit the town in the future.
