Kluang Initial Site Discussion

First discussion on the macro and micro site.

The site discussion were about the division of work of students at workbase (smaller groups) and design studio level to analyse and synthesize the site within a macro and micro scale.

We look into the initial findings of the site, the action of works for further inquiry and methods of virtual site visit and inventory. Most of the initial findings were sourced from Google Earth, Maps and previous documents obtained from the authority and compiled in Miro. However, the aspect of experience, senses and scale were absent due to the limitation of online and virtual studies. This also includes the typical data survey on sound, wind and temperature, which currently only could only be sourced from the internet.

I thought that going back to the project brief’s main references on SDGs and World Economic Forum’s might help students to look at Kluang in relation to the global platform and issues, particularly on current urban and sub-urban matters.

Some of the students decided to visit the site physically and to assist the other team members on obtaining data that were missing from the online-based research. Submission and presentation of the Site Study will be made in Week 4.
