Malaysia is a multiethnic, multicultural and multireligion country. Although Islam is the official religion of the country, students at UTM come from a variety of ethnic and religious background. The University tries to make provision for everyone to observe their religious practices by allowing religion-based students societies to carry out activities for their members. There are the Islamic Students Society, Buddhist Students Society, Christian Students Society and Hindu Students Society registered with the Students Affairs Office.
