Iskandar Malaysia covers an area of 2,217 square kilometers and five (5) local government authorities, namely, Johor Bahru City Council, Johor Bahru Tengah Municipal Council, Pasir Gudang Municipal Council, Kulaijaya Municipal Council and Pontian District Council.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\">Datuk Ismail in his 2<sup>nd<\/sup> public lecture on 28 May 2015 at the Convention Hall, B12, Faculty of Built Environment, UTM, Johor Bahru, emphasised that investments especially foreign investments into Iskandar Malaysia are very selective, in which projects selected must be catalytic in nature so as to generate a multiplier, spread and clustering effect.\u00a0 It is envisaged that this in turn will give rise to higher order employment and business opportunities which will impact a higher incomes for the region.\u00a0<span style=\"line-height: 1.5\">Datuk Ismail highlighted further that investment from global brand amongst others are Hershey, Lego, Pinewood Studio had resulted in development of a higher quality and standard.\u00a0 It has now been almost a decade since Iskandar Malaysia was first established and it has already realised almost 41% of the target committed investments which it seeks to achieve by 2025.\u00a0 <\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\"><span style=\"line-height: 1.5\">Datuk Ismail Ibrahim, the Chief Executive of Iskandar Regional Development Authority (IRDA) is the Adjunct Professor at the Department of Urban and Regional Planning, Faculty of Built Environment, UTM, Johor Bahru.\u00a0 The lecture was attended by students and faculty and ended at 1.00 pm.<\/span><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Second Public Lecture for 2015 by Datuk Ismail Ibrahim, Chief Executive, Iskandar Regional Development Authority (IRDA) on 28 May 2015 at Convention Hall B12, Faculty of Built Environment, UTM, Johor Bahru.
